Iron Mountain - Getting Started

In order to be eligible you must meet both of the following requirements:
- You must be an active, full-time faculty member at UNCG [75% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) or greater]
- You must opt-in. Opting in includes the process of accounts being authorized for funding through the Office of the Provost. To begin the process, please contact your dean or department head.
Note: ITS is planning in the near future to make licenses available to all faculty and staff members who receive funding from their Dean or Department Head.

- I have an Iron Mountain license -- how do I get started?
You will be contacted via campus mail with instructions on how to start using the software. For more specific details, read the Installation Guide.
- Is Iron Mountain available for Windows Vista, Mac or Linux computers?
Support is limited to these UNCG-supported Operating Systems: - Windows XP Professional with Service Packs 1, 2, or 3
- Windows XP Tablet edition
Note: The Iron Mountain client for OS X is expected to be available in March 2009. - 300 MHz or faster processor
- 256 MB RAM required, 512 MB RAM recommended
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
- Broadband connection recommended for faster backups
- What is my Iron Mountain Account Number?
- Open the Iron Mountain agent:
Start --> All Programs --> Iron Mountain --> Connected Backup/PC - Click on the Help pull-down menu and select About Connected Backup/PC Agent.

- How do I set/reset my Iron Mountain Password?
When you get an Iron Mountain account, you will be assigned a password. This account password is not related to any other at UNCG. If you know your current password and want to change it:
- Go to the Account Management web page and login.
- Click on Edit Profile.
- In the Logon Information section, click Change Password.

- Enter your Old password and your New password (two times), then click Save.
- With my license, can I setup Iron Mountain on multiple computers?
No. Currently, you may set up only one account that is associated with only one computer. In the event that multiple accounts are identified, the account with the earliest date will remain and those with a later creation date will be deleted from the server. In the near future, you will be able to purchase additional licenses if you would like to back up more than one computer.
- Can the Iron Mountain software be installed on a shared computer?
Yes, but it is not recommended. The Iron Mountain software can be installed only once under a single user account.
- How do I move or migrate my Iron Mountain account from one computer to another?
- First, uninstall the software from your original computer.
- On the second (new) computer, go to the Account Management web page and login.
- Click on Reinstall Agent and read the information on that page.
- Click on Download Software and read the information on the Download Instructions page.
- Click on Begin Download and save the file to your desktop.
- Click Run to start the installation, or double-click on the file on your Desktop.

Note: If you reset your password and it still doesn't work, you may need to uninstall/reinstall the software so that the password on your computer will be synched with the one on the server.
