File Transfer Protocol Support

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) can be used to move files to and from any of the on-campus servers that support file transfers. FTP itself is a method of communication and not an actual program that needs to be downloaded to a computer. However, many applications use FTP to move files over the Internet. At UNCG, we require that you use a form of FTP called Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). There are several acceptable SFTP clients available for download. On campus, Core FTP and WinSCP are available for SFTP from the UNCG Application folder. Mac users have access to Fetch.
