About the University Student Laptop Initiative
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) is pleased to announce its Student Laptop Initiative! This program is an initiative of Provost A. Edward Uprichard and the Deans Council. The Student Laptop Initiative is supported by Information Technology Services (ITS) and results from an increasing interest in a technology-enabled teaching and learning environment and a developing campus-wide wireless computing infrastructure. Students will be able to enjoy wireless connectivity from most areas on campus, including classrooms. You can learn more about the wireless network by logging in to 6-TECH Online.
Be sure to read through the Frequently Asked Questions related to the Initiative.
Details
Program laptops will be available for purchase by students from an online ordering site. These laptops are pre-configured with selected software, including Microsoft Office and Symantec Norton AntiVirus, plus four years of FREE upgrades. In addition, students who purchase program laptops will receive technical support from an on-campus laptop support center.
Beginning with the fall semester of 2007, all incoming traditional freshmen (full-time, non-transfer, etc.) are required to have a laptop that at least meets the program's minimum requirements. Please review the program's Minimum Requirements for Non-Program Laptops if you are considering purchasing a non-program laptop.
About the project
With the participation of other units on campus, ITS created a project to ensure that this initiative was realized at UNCG.
