Using the Laptop
Below are links that will help you with many of the common things you will want to do with your laptop.
- Connect to the wireless network
UNCG is in the process of refreshing its wireless network. For information about the project, go to the Wireless Refresh Project web page.
- ResNet
Students living in the dormitories are provided an Internet connection through Residence Life's network service (ResNet).
- Back up your data
Can you afford to lose that paper that's due tomorrow? Backing up important files is your responsibility, but fortunately there are plenty of ways to protect your files and your peace of mind.
- Software
Your laptop comes from the factory loaded with the software listed on the About the Laptops page. If you encounter problems with the software and the built-in help isn't sufficient, you should check our Getting Help page. Also, training for many common programs is available online through the Element K e-learning system. A list of UNCG supported software can be found in the Standards for Computer and Related Technology policy.
