Network Refresh Schedule
Information Technology Services (ITS) has developed a 5-year implementation plan for refreshing the campus network infrastructure. This plan includes the development of a test environment and active engagement of our clients.

Schedule for October 2006 - March 2007
Develop the Test Environment
ITS is currently building a test lab at DSINet. During the initial lab phase, Networks will be working with key technical clients across campus to define the new core and distribution network and the new access/building network.
Actively Engage Clients
ITS plans to engage key clients across the University to participate as formal members of the Network Refresh Project. This will help to define the evolution of the campus network and its associated services, build understanding and advocacy among client groups for this critical work, and test potential solutions with client applications.
Goals for Winter 2006 - Winter 2007
- Upgrade the core network to a "Core + Distribution" design in accordance with best practices.
- Upgrade certain buildings to the current technology.
- Upgrade the server farm to the current technology.
Annual Schedule of Deliverables
- Year 1 (February 2007 - May 2007):
Two core and four distribution routers, along with three new building networks, will be deployed. The buildings affected are Mossman, Gray Home, and the Police Station. - Year 2:
The remainder of the core network and server farm will be upgraded and security will be enhanced. - Years 3 through 5:
ITS will continue to upgrade buildings and improve security. - Year 6:
The network refresh process begins again.
