Centralized Hardware Procurement Program

In December 2007, UNCG's Executive Staff, with input from the Dean's Council, directed ITS to implement a UNCG Centralized Hardware Procurement program. ITS is pleased to announce the launch the Program which includes hardware savings for departments based on UNCG-negotiated discounts, better hardware management through central receiving and inventory of program equipment, expedited support for program equipment, and enhanced data security through lifecycle management.
To hasten implementation and offer savings for year-end expenditures, the program's first phase encompasses only the highest-volume client hardware purchases - Windows-based desktop and laptop computers. Dell has been introduced as the first UNCG partner for the program. ITS intends to offer models from additional vendors as soon as contract details are finalized.
On April 15, 2008, a new Dell website for UNCG Centralized Hardware Procurement was launched. This site features two desktop and four laptop/tablet UNCG "bundles" as well as an option to configure a custom model if needed. The standard bundles typically provide the highest level of discounts.
