Information Technology Services (ITS) is now refreshing the UNCG wireless network in all campus academic buildings. This project will improve wireless services by giving all students the opportunity to use a secure wireless network that:
- is much faster than previous wireless service (no "bandwidth" restrictions)
- provides access to more services than the previous wireless network configuration
- offers better protection of your data (through data "encryption")
To date, the refresh has occurred in the Moore Nursing, Bryan and Curry Buildings.
The complete building schedule and instructions on connecting to the refreshed network are available from the Wireless Refresh project website. The schedule is subject to change, and will be updated accordingly.
Attaching to the refreshed network will require a change in configuration on your laptop. If you need assistance, you may get help from trained wireless support staff:
- A Mobile Wireless Support Station will be available in various campus buildings during the refresh project. The Station will be available today (Monday, 4/21/08) beginning at noon in Bryan 209. The Station will operate in Bryan 209 from 8 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday 4/22 - Thursday 4/24.
- The Laptop Assisted Help Center is located in McIver 354, and includes evening and Sunday support hours. Go to the Getting Help web page for the hours of operation.
As always, students may also get support through 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324), or by seeking help in the ITS SuperLab in Jackson Library.
