Microsoft will soon release Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) as an automatically received update.
Information Technology Services (ITS) will delay the release of this update to UNCG-maintained computers - to test its effects - by distributing software that will block its automatic installation.
This block will be pushed to all campus computers Friday, April 11th through Wednesday, April 16th, and will take effect the next time you restart your computer. This block has been tested on all ITS computers, and no problems were found.
After Windows XP SP3 is released and ITS finishes its tests, the block will be removed allowing Windows XP SP3 to install automatically. You will be notified before that occurs.
If you have questions or experience any problems you feel may be related to this block, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH Online.
