Spam Detection Enhancement to iSpartan Service

12 December 2008

FastFacts

  • Who: Students
  • What: Spam detection enhancement to iSpartan service
  • Why: Response to students noticing a large amount of spam arriving unfiltered to their inbox
  • When: Implemented on Tuesday, December 9th

On Tuesday, 12/9, Information Technology Services (ITS) implemented changes to iSpartan that enhanced the spam detection/scanning services. The change was a response to students noticing a large amount of spam from bogus @uncg.edu addresses arriving unfiltered to their inbox. The change was unobtrusive, and caused no downtime. However, it has improved the experience for iSpartan users regarding spam (testing over the past 48 hours has confirmed significant improvement to spam detection).
