e-Spartan Web Client Causes Vulnerability

  • Why: IBM-related vulnerability in e-Spartan web client (associated with Internet Explorer 6 and 7)

Information Technology Services (ITS) has learned of a vulnerability created by software distributed by IBM related to the e-Spartan web client and the Internet Explorer browser (versions 6 and 7). Any Windows computer you have used to access your UNCG email via the e-Spartan web client and Internet Explorer 6 or 7 is vulnerable. This includes Apple computers running Windows via virtual software such as Parallels. Firefox is not affected. To allay this issue, ITS will deploy a patch through the Novell network on Tuesday morning, July 15th, which will run automatically when you login and will remove the corrupted file.
