FastFacts
- Who: Faculty, Staff, & Students
- What: Lotus Notes (e-Spartan): (1) update on performance problems and (2) email delivery issues related to 10/17-10/19 downtime
- Client Action: None
- Note: This does not impact iSpartan email (powered by Google Apps for Education)
(1) Update on performance problems:
- While performance of the Lotus (e-Spartan) email system has generally improved as of noon today (10/20), this past weekend's ITS-implemented maintenance recommended by the vendor (IBM) did not fully correct the issue as expected.
- ITS continues to investigate the source of performance problems with the Lotus (e-Spartan) system.
- ITS will notify the campus community if additional maintenance downtime is required.
(2) Email delivery issues related to 10/17-10/19 downtime:
- During this past weekend's maintenance downtime, ITS technical problems resulted in external email sent to Lotus (e-Spartan) not being queued for later delivery.
- Email sent to UNCG faculty and staff accounts between 10/17 8 pm and 10/19 2 pm was not delivered, and senders of that email should have received a message stating that the intended recipient was "unknown."
- ITS has corrected the issue such that email will be queued and delivered if additional Lotus (e-Spartan) downtime is required. We regret the significant inconvenience that this problem caused.
