Internet Explorer 8 Not Compatible With Blackboard
26 March 2009
Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8) was recently released. Using IE8 with Blackboard will cause problems for students attempting to submit tests or use the file upload feature. IE8 may also cause issues with other applications.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is blocking IE8 from Windows Updates for all ITS staff members on Monday, March 30, 2009. If this block does not create problems, we will block IE8 from Windows Updates for all campus users the following Monday. Because ITS uses Novell ZENworks to distribute such blocking software, this action will only affect users with the Novell ZENworks client installed.
In the meantime, you should continue using an earlier version of Internet Explorer, or another browser. If you have installed IE8, instructions for its removal are on the Microsoft website: How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?
