With the start of the new semester, 6-TECH has received a number of calls regarding difficulties with IE 8 and Blackboard. Information Technology Services (ITS) continues its March 2009 recommendation that users of the Windows IE browser not upgrade to version 8. Blackboard 8 has known compatibility issues with IE 8, and Blackboard, Inc. has not yet published a date by which they expect to address these issues.
Clients who are running IE 8 and need to use Blackboard should use the "Compatibility View" as documented on the Blackboard web site, or should return to an earlier version of the browser. For information about uninstalling IE 8, see the news article: Internet Explorer 8 Not Compatible With Blackboard.
Please note: Firefox is the recommended browser for Blackboard. IE8 is supported by Blackboard in "Compatibility View" only.
