Open Access to Students for Registration
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University
The University Of North Carolina At Greensboro
(Approved by the Chancellors, July 13, 1971)
It is agreed that, within the boundaries of the controls and limitations listed below, students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro may enroll in courses offered in the institution other than that in which they are matriculated (hereafter referred to as "the host institution"). The following regulations shall apply:
- The student must be a degree-seeking student, currently registered in one of the Universities named herein.
- The student will be permitted to enroll in a course at the host institution only when he does not have access to a course with similar prerequisites, content, and standing at the institution in which he is matriculated. It is understood that he must meet all the requirements for admission to the course which he intends to take and that students in the home institution will have first priority in enrollment in those instances where a course is over-subscribed.
- The student admitted to a course in the host institution must receive the approval of the dean of his college. (Graduate students must receive the approval of the Dean of the Graduate School.) It is recognized that all the course, program, and degree regulations which apply to the student concerned will be enforced by his home institution in the transfer of course credits earned from the host institution.
- No fee will be charged for open access to courses in the host institution, except in cases where special course costs, such as those for laboratory or art studio materials, are encountered, in which case the student will pay such charges as are applied against the students of the host institution. [*]
- Students enrolled in a course in the host institution will have free and open access to the library of that institution for the use of library materials related to the course. Such access will include the privilege of borrowing books not withheld from circulation through reserve or other library regulations.
*
The parties to this agreement reserve the privilege
of asking for a review of the no charge rule prior to the beginning of
any semester.
