Project Management Methodology
A project is defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as "a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique work product, service, or result."
In UNCG Information Technology Services (ITS), a project is further defined as a piece of work that has an expected duration of over 16 business hours. The ITS Project Management Methodology describes two types of projects: FastTrack and Full Methodology projects.
- A project is considered under the FastTrack Methodology if it has an expected duration that is less than 30 days and is expected to require between 16 and 80 effort hours. FastTrack projects also involve resources from only one area of ITS.
- A project is considered under the Full Methodology if it has an expected duration greater than 30 days, will require more than 80 effort hours, or requires staff from multiple areas of ITS.
