Migrate Your Mail, Calendar, and Contacts

The method for moving your mail, calendar, and contacts depends on whether or not you opted-in to the UNCG Student Email pilot program last year. For instructions, select one of the following:

• I opted-in to the UNCG Student Email pilot program.
• I did not opt-in to the UNCG Student Email pilot program.

If you opted-in to the UNCG Student Email pilot program*:

Mail

• Move your UNCG Student Email to iSpartan using Mail Fetcher.
  This tool allows you to move your messages only from your UNCG Student Email account to iSpartan. All messages will be moved into your iSpartan Inbox. No labels will be saved.
  
  or
  
• Move your UNCG Student Email manually.
  You may choose to forward each message in your UNCG Student Email account manually to iSpartan.

Calendar

• Use Google's Import & Export tools to move your calendar entries.
  
  or
  
• Recreate your calendar entries on your new iSpartan calendar manually.

Contacts

• Use Google's tool for Exporting Gmail contacts.
  These instructions at the Google Help Center will explain how to export your UNCG Student Email contacts into a CSV file. Once you have exported your contacts, you can import them into your iSpartan account.
  
  or
• Recreate your contacts manually in your new iSpartan account.

Docs

• Move your Google Docs to your new iSpartan account by Emailing them as attachments.
  
  or
• Save your Google Docs to your hard drive and then upload them to your iSpartan account.

*Note: The UNCG Student Email (powered by Google) system will be available for students to login and migrate their data until December 2008.

If you use e-Spartan Email and did NOT opt-in to the UNCG Student Email pilot program*:

Mail

Move your e-Spartan Email manually:

1. Login to e-Spartan.
2. Open the message you want to forward.
3. Click the Forward pull-down menu and select Forward.
4. Enter your iSpartan email address in the To: field.
5. Click Send.
   

Calendar

e-Spartan does not have a tool for exporting your calendar. You must recreate you calendar entries in iSpartan manually.

Contacts

e-Spartan does not have a tool for exporting your contacts. You must recreate your contacts in iSpartan manually.


*Note: The e-Spartan system will be available for students to login and migrate their data until August 2009.
