System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) @ UNCG

Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) provides an anti-virus and security solution for faculty and staff university-owned computers.

Who is eligible?

SCEP is licensed for faculty and staff university-owned computers.

Note: Anti-virus Recommendations for Personally-Owned Computers provides recommendations for personal computers of students, faculty and staff, including those who previously purchased Symantec from ITS.

How can I get the software?

  • For most* university-owned computers running Microsoft Windows
Most* university-owned computers running Microsoft Windows will have the SCEP software automatically installed as well as maintained (receive updates) in the future.

*Note: The exceptions are computers in the 152.x.x.x network (users in this network have specifically requested to operate there). The next bullet point contains instructions about getting SCEP for these computers.
  • For university-owned computers running Microsoft Windows that are in the 152.x.x.x network
These computers will not have SCEP automatically installed during the Symantec-to-SCEP transition. Information Technology Services (ITS) does recommend the SCEP solution for all university-owned computers, and users of computers in the 152.x.x.x. network can get the SCEP software by following the instructions in the link below:
