Access Methods

YouTube via iSpartan

University faculty, staff, and students can set up a YouTube channel that is connected to their iSpartan (Google Mail) email account.

To set up a YouTube channel:

  1. Log in to your iSpartan email account.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the Google Apps icon Google Apps icon and select More.
  3. Choose YouTube from the menu.
  4. On the YouTube homepage, click the Sign In button. Once your YouTube homepage is displayed, you can click Upload to add files to your YouTube channel.

To share your uploaded video:

  1. Login to your Video Manager in YouTube.

    To access the Video Manager from the Home page of your YouTube account:
    1. Click your account icon in the top right corner.

    3. Select Video Manager and Videos from the Creator Studio menu on the left.

  2. Click the title of the video you want to share.
  3. Under Video Information you will see a field with a URL generated for the selected video.

Mediasite via Canvas

To set up access to Mediasite:

  1. Log into Canvas.
  2. Navigate to the course where you would like the Mediasite tool installed.
  3. Go to Settings (left side).
  4. Select the Apps tab.
  5. Click the View App Configurations button.
  6. Click the Add App button.
  7. For Configuration Type, select By URL. Also fill in the following information:
    • Consumer key: Contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH for this information.
    • Shared Secret: Contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH for this information.
    • Config URL: https://uncg.mediasite.mcnc.org/mcnc/Lti/Configure?key=Canvas

  8. Click the Submit button.
  9. Next, from Settings in Canvas, choose the Navigation tab.
  10. Locate My Mediasite from the list of grayed-out Apps (near the bottom). These Apps are disabled. Click the gear icon next to My Mediasite and choose Enable.

  11. Save your changes by clicking Save.
  12. Once the App has been enabled, click My Mediasite from your course menu.

    Students can review recorded lectures. Faculty and staff can create presentations directly from their university workstation or home computer.

    Note: A web camera will be required to create presentations outside of the lecture capture facility located in Bryan 114.

Note: If Chrome or Firefox blocks the plugin by default, click the "Plugin Blocked" message and select Always Allow and click Done.
