ITS Guideline: Streaming Media

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides streaming media services to the academic and administrative departments of the University for the limited purposes of instruction, training, and/or promotion of the University or one of its departments. It can also be used for the promotion of campus activities.

The streaming media server is available for use by faculty, staff, and graduate students.
Note: Students must have faculty or staff sponsorship.

Federal copyright laws do apply to all media streamed from ITS servers. Individuals and departments streaming media from these servers will need to be the author or owner of the media copyright, have expressed written permission from the copyright holder to post the media for streaming, or meet the requirements of the "fair use exception" to the U.S. Copyright Act for the media. Content streamed from these servers is the responsibility of the individuals who place it on the server and the departments within whose space the media is placed. See UNCG's Copyright and Fair Use guidelines and UNCG'S Copyright Ownership and Use Policy. For more information, see the University Counsel Web site.

In addition to copyright laws, all UNCG faculty, staff, and student policies related to decency and conduct apply to the materials placed on the streaming media servers. For more information on the policies that apply to you, please reference The University Policy Manual.
