Purpose
This procedure addresses the following section of the related policy:
Section III.C.i.a
"Violations of the rights of any person or company protected by copyright, trade secret, patent, or other intellectual property, or similar laws or regulation, including, but not limited to, the installation or distribution of "pirated" or other software products that are not appropriately licensed by the user or device."
Scope
This procedure covers licensed software centrally managed by ITS.

Procedure
The individual user is responsible for complying with all software licenses. Certain software is managed centrally, and ITS is the custodian of these licenses. All other software is the responsibility of the department and/or end user and must be approved by legal and purchased directly. The Standards for Computer and Related Technology Policy contains a list of supported products and information on site licenses.
For any questions related to software licenses managed by ITS, call 6-TECH at 336-256-TECH (8324) who will open the support case. The Assistant Director for Technology Services will ensure appropriate request handling.
