Request for Limited Exemption from University Information Technology Security Policies
Understanding that there are times when clients need to seek exemption from University Information Technology Security Policies, Information Technology Services (ITS) has developed a procedure to facilitate the process. Before notifying the Service Desk to initiate the process, the requestor should complete a business case (PDF: requires a reader such as Adobe Reader), whereupon the following occurs:
- Requestor completes a business case (form attached) and submits the request through Remedy or 6-TECH Technical Support.
- The ticket is forwarded to the ITS Security Officer for review who will then forward it onto the ITS Assistant/Associate Vice Chancellors (AVCs) and Directors for review.
- Appropriate ITS staff, as determined by ITS leadership, meets with the requestor and department head for discussion of the request.
- A response to the request is prepared by the ITS leadership.
- ITS management/AVCs make a recommendation to the Security Committee.
- Upon approval by the Information Security Committee, and prioritization by the appropriate client division, a fast track or full methodology project is developed to track the work. Any necessary service level agreements would also be generated.
