Student Telephone Directory Listings
On-campus student telephone numbers are listed in the campus directory computer service. This information is available by dialing 4-5000. Please notify Telephone Services in writing if you do not wish to have your telephone number given out. Also, call 4-5000 if you change rooms to let Telephone Services update the directory. Telephone numbers of off-campus students may be obtained by calling the Student Locator at 4-5150. All occupants of a room are listed in the UNCG Student Telephone Directory unless otherwise requested; the information shown in the directory is obtained from the Registrar's files.
Telephones
All residents must bring their own telephone. UNCG Telephone Services does not sell or lease residential telephone sets or equipment. If you do not have a telephone, you can purchase one from the University Bookstore or other local merchants. Cordless telephones do not operate efficiently on campus. The Telephone Services Department does not service privately owned phones or answering machines.
Repair Service
Before calling repair, please test your telephone and answering machine on another telephone outlet. If your equipment works properly, then call Telephone Services at Ext. 4-5937 between 8 am - 5 pm, Monday-Friday. If the problem is in your equipment, you should arrange for repair with the seller of the equipment or other repair service. UNCG Telephone Services does not repair or service privately owned telephone equipment. Telephone Services will repair University owned lines and equipment due to malfunction at no charge.
Harassing Calls
If you are receiving harassing phone calls, please contact Campus Police at 4-5963. They will authorize investigation of the calls. Telephone Services cannot assist you in this matter unless you have contacted Campus Police first. In the event it is necessary to have your number changed, there will be a $20 charge for this service since all lines are permanently assigned to each room.
