Information Technology Training Opportunities on Campus

Information Technology Services (ITS) offers FREE training to faculty, staff, and students at UNCG through a combination of online and in person training in our training rooms.

ITS offers in person training in our training room, located in Bryan 209, and online synchronous training using WexEx. These workshops generally last 1.5 to 2 hours and are held throughout the year.

Registration for workshops is online at the UNCG Workshops and Events Calendar.

When you sign up for a workshop:

  • Please sign up for only one session of a specific topic.
  • Reserve your space as soon as possible because space is limited.
  • Include your name, UNCG user name, phone number, and other information on the sign-up form.
  • Classes start and end on time, so please be prompt. If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, email the contact for that class.

To suggest a topic for a workshop, send an email to 6-TECH.

If you do not see any sessions scheduled for a workshop you are interested in, or if you would like to request a workshop for a class or a group of people, please send an email to 6-TECH.

You may evaluate our training sessions by filling out our Training Evaluation Form.

EDUCAUSE Training Resources

UNCG accounts are able to login to EDUCAUSE because UNCG participates in the InCommon Federation which facilitates sharing of resources across organizations using your home institution's (UNCG's) user name and password. See: EDUCAUSE Login Information for UNCG Students, Faculty, and Staff.

All faculty and staff are required to take Security Awareness Training within 30 days of employment.

Reserving the ITS Training Room

ITS has a training room that can be reserved for training needs:

  • Bryan 209 has 25 PCs and 9 Macintosh computers.
You can add Bryan 209 as a room to a calendar entry to send a reservation request.

This training room may be used by UNCG departments for any web-based training that does not require additional files or software to be installed, or for training on currently installed software. See ITS Training Room Software for additional information. If you are planning on holding training in the ITS training room, and are not sure if your training meets these specifications, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or for assistance.

Accessing the ITS Training Room

Once your reservation has been accepted, the room may be accessed by checking out the key from the Help Desk in the SuperLab in Jackson Library before your training and returning it at the end.
