Microsoft E-Learning
As part of a new offering from Microsoft, UNCG faculty, staff, and students are eligible to access E-Learning courses online at Microsoft.com. These courses are meant to help you keep up-to-date with the latest major software releases. For information about how to use this service, login to 6-TECH Online and search for "Microsoft E-Learning."
ITS Technical Certification
Registration for this workshop is online at the UNCG Workshops and Event Calendar. The workshop is offered several times a year.
ITS Technical Certification is for UNCG staff who have IT responsibilities as part of their job descriptions and support their departments in this capacity. Registration requires the submission of a letter from your department head. The letter is located in 6-TECH Online. Click on the UNCG Forms tab and look in the Miscellaneous section. Your registration will not be complete until the training coordinator receives the letter. Your registration will be confirmed by the training coordinator when the letter is received. Workshops cover the following topics:
- Machine Hardware Setup
- Registering a machine on the Network
- Imaging a machine
- Attaching a Machine to the UNCG Domain
- Backup and Restore of Hard Drives
- Installing Printers
- Wireless Configuration
- Supporting Macintosh Computers
At the conclusion of the training, both a written and hands-on assessment will be required. A certificate will be issued to those who complete the training and pass the assessments. With this certification, participants will gain access to some of the same technical tools and information that ITS technical staff use to build and maintain machines on campus.
