UNIX Support

UNIX is one of the computer operating systems used at UNCG. All students, faculty, and staff at UNCG have UNIX accounts. They can be activated on the University Computing Accounts page. To change your UNIX password go to the Self Service Password Resetting Form at (reset.uncg.edu).

UNIX is used for Web publishing, some specialized math software, and data analysis. You can use SAS, SPSS, and programming languages such as Perl, C, and Fortran.

UNIX is a command line operating system that can be used through a terminal session. Login to the UNIX command line environment requires a terminal emulation client which supports SSH encryption. After connecting to the host name unix.uncg.edu, simply log in with your user name and UNIX password.
