UNCG Vendor Access to Virtual Private Networking

Virtual Private Networking (VPN) is used to create a secure path to UNCG's network in order for your machine to access restricted data or protected systems. VPN creates an encrypted network connection between you and the UNCG network. Your computer will logically be part of the UNCG network when using a VPN connection.

This document is for vendors who need to access restricted data or protected systems. In order to use VPN, you must have an active UNCG Novell account (or Novell Authentication Object) and an Internet connection. You also need to get the appropriate VPN group name and group password by contacting 6-TECH Technical Support at 336-256-TECH (8324) or 6-tech@uncg.edu.

Vendor VPN accounts can either be similar to System Administrator VPN accounts in their privilege level or like public VPN users. Vendors must have a Novell authentication object (not the same as an account) and must be qualified individually by ITS staff. You should contact your UNCG-employed customer for VPN access, and they will mediate the process.

You can review the requirements, other account types (Faculty and Staff or System Administrator), or proceed to installation instructions for Windows or Mac OS X.
