Installing Applications from Novell under VPN
Because Virtual Private Networking (VPN) may result in lower overall network throughput, you may experience relatively long download times, especially when installing or running large applications. Some VPN users will experience performance and service degradation, and even may have problems operating certain applications.
However, the applications available from the Novell Applications Launcher (NAL) generally function in the same way using off-campus VPN as they do from on campus without VPN. If time is critical, you may prefer to obtain physical installation media for some applications.
Notes:
- It is a violation of University software license agreements to run most Novell-delivered software on a personal (non-University) machine. The information on this page is intended only for those using University computers from home for University work.
- If you have a dial-up connection, it is not recommended that you attempt to download applications from Novell with VPN.
