Information Technology Training Opportunities on Campus

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Information Technology Services (ITS) provides computing support for students, faculty, and staff. For immediate help, students should go to the Student Help Desk in the SuperLab in Jackson Library or call 6-TECH at 336-256-TECH(8324). Faculty and staff should call 6-TECH.

Workshops

Registration for workshops is online at the UNCG Workshops and Event Calendar.

ITS offers FREE training to faculty, staff, and students at UNCG. All ITS workshops are listed under ITS-Training. Topics include:

  • iSpartan Email & Calendaring
  • Using Google Docs
  • Creating a Personal Website at UNCG with Google Sites
  • SAS and SPSS
  • Introduction to Blackboard for Students
  • Creating Surveys with Qualtrics
  • And more...

When you sign up for a workshop:

  • Please sign up for only one session of a specific topic.
  • Reserve your space as soon as possible because space is limited.
  • Include your name, UNCG user name, phone number, and other information on the sign-up form.
  • Classes start and end on time, so please be prompt. If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, email the contact for that class.

OnLine EDUcation (OLEDU)

Online training through OLEDU is available to faculty, staff, and students. The training modules offered include End User Desktop Computing, Technical General, Technical Microsoft (MCSE), and Technical Web Development. Google Apps Education Training Center

The Google Apps for Education Training Center has online training modules that show how to use Google Apps in an educational environment.

Microsoft E-Learning

UNCG faculty, staff, and students are eligible for free Microsoft E-Learning accounts. Microsoft E-Learning covers Microsoft Office as well as other Microsoft topics. These courses are meant to help you keep up-to-date with the latest major software releases. For information about how to use this service, see: Training With Microsoft E-Learning.

Security Awareness Training

ITS offers instructor-led and online Security Awareness Training for faculty and staff.

Reserving the ITS Training Rooms

ITS has two training rooms that can be reserved for training needs. Bryan 209 has 25 PCs and 9 Macintosh computers. Forney 112 has 23 PCs. For information about how to reserve these rooms and gain access to them, see: Requesting Training Rooms as Room Resources.
