Personas

Screenshot of the Persona selection screenUNCG Mobile is segmented into personas that tailor content based on six specific audiences: Students, New Students, Prospective Students, Alumni, Faculty/Staff, and Parents and Families. Each persona has its own home screen, content, and newsfeed.

Upon launching the app, the user is asked to choose a persona. However, the user can freely move among all of the personas available. To change a selected persona, tap the head and shoulders icon at the top right of the app screen. Select a persona from the available options.

 

 

Academics Tile

To access confidential information within the app, such as class schedule and grades, users must sign in on the UNCG login screen that automatically appears. Tapping the head and shoulders at the top right of the screen shows the user's login status. Users can log out from this same screen.

Navigation

Once in the app, most functions are activated by a tap on a tile, a button, or another control on the screen. Some functionality is based on the screen presented. For example, sharing or bookmarking are typically options for newsfeed stories or videos.

Campus-wide alerts and audience-specific messages are occasionally broadcast via the app. Users are encouraged to turn on notifications to receive these important messages. Broadcast messages will be very limited and respectful of the end-user's inbox. Users can opt-in to topic-specific messages via the notifications. Channels are managed by different areas of the University to keep users who have an interest in certain topics informed of activities and updates. Examples include Parking Alerts, ITS Alerts, and Your First-Year updates.

Hamburger Menu Icon   The "hamburger menu" in the top right of the screen provides navigation options. Tapping this icon drops down the list of available tiles for each channel.    Navigation can be personalized by adding favorites.

The Feedback tile allows users to make suggestions or notify UNCG Mobile developers of bugs in the app. This short form gathers the information and sends it to the key content manager for that persona.
