Adobe Creative Cloud

Beginning April 2017, UNCG offers the Adobe Creative Cloud suite on all university-owned computers.

ATTENTION: Faculty and staff who have any version of the Adobe Creative Suite (CS1 - CS6) should update to Adobe Creative Cloud. Applications in all versions of Creative Suite no longer receive security patches. This applies to both macOS (OS X) and Windows operating systems. See our FAQ page for details. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH@uncg.edu.

Accessing Adobe Creative Cloud Software

You have three options for accessing the Adobe Creative Cloud software:

  1. Install from the web through your subscription (User based license)
    • Activate your individual subscription by registering your username and downloading and installing the software from the web.
    • You may activate and sign in to your account on any (and only) two computers, whether UNCG-owned or personally owned. See Activation Limit for Adobe Creative Cloud for more information.
    • This option allows you to access, on that computer, all the Creative Cloud software, as well as the collaboration tools such as file sharing and collaborative editing.
  2. Install from AppCat or MacApps (Device based license)
    • On campus, Creative Cloud may be installed from the Application Catalog (AppCat) or from MacApps.
    • There are three collections (Design, Web, and Video) and two applications (Acrobat and Photoshop) available for you to install. The collections consist of applications that are needed for a general purpose; clicking on the collection will tell you which applications the collection provides. We also provide Acrobat and Photoshop on their own.
    • Software installed from AppCat or MacApps is activated under a “device license” and the collaboration tools, such as file sharing and collaborative editing, will not be available. This option does not affect the number of activations you are permitted for your individual subscription.
    • If you would like to use the collaboration tools of Creative Cloud, you can install the Creative Cloud app, either from AppCat/MacApps or the Creative Cloud website. Installing and using this app will convert your installation into one of your two subscription activations.
  3. Use Creative Cloud in ITS open-access computer labs and classrooms (Device based license)
    • The Creative Cloud applications, but not the collaboration tools, may also be accessed from the computers in the ITS open-access computer labs and from the teaching workstations in campus classrooms.
    • This option does not affect the number of activations you are permitted for your individual subscription.
    • This option will be available starting Fall 2017.

Note: Students are not currently eligible for work at home rights under the Adobe site license, but may purchase Adobe products at a discount from CIA. CIA provides discounted pricing for personal purchases for Adobe products for students, faculty and staff. To make purchases using a personal credit card or check, please visit theĀ CIA Student and Teacher Store. No Promo Code is necessary for personal purchases.
