Who: Students, faculty, and staff using MyCloud.
What: MyCloud will upgrade Office to Microsoft 365 (M365), which uses user-based licensing.
When: Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Why: Microsoft 365 provides continuous updates with new features, bug fixes, and security improvements. User-based licensing also allows certain users to access advanced features tied to their assigned license, such as Microsoft Copilot or other add-on tools.
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Yes. The first time you open an Office app in MyCloud after the change:
- Log in using your UNCG credentials.
- MyCloud will save the license to your user profile.
- After this first login, you won’t need to sign in again unless your password changes or the license cache is cleared.
Note: Secure Desktop is not affected by this change and will remain on Office LTSC 2021.
