What We Offer - The ITS Mission/Vision

ITS Mission - Information Technology Services (ITS) is UNCG's central technology organization, providing computing, communications, and data services, and consulting with UNCG faculty/staff/students on technology. ITS is responsible for planning and management of the transmission and utilization of data, voice, and video, in support of the university's academic and administrative goals. ITS promotes best practices, efficient procurement, and overall cost-effectiveness in the use of IT resources across the entire University.

ITS Vision - Information Technology Services, with partners on and off campus, uses technology to provide the most cost-effective services and solutions to the UNCG community and our UNC System partners. Innovative use of technology in instruction is central to the future of higher education.


 

Spotlight

Migration to Canvas

Canvas Logo Spring 2015 saw signficant progress in UNCG’s migration to Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS) selected to replace Blackboard Learn. As of Spring 2015, approximately 46% of courses were in Canvas, including the vast majority of courses in the schools of Music, Theatre and Dance, Health and Human Sciences, and the Bryan School.

By Fall 2015, 90% of courses will be migrated to Canvas.

The typical daily peak wireless usage is approx. 5500 users.

High speed wireless access is available in every residence hall room and common area.

High speed wireless access is available on approx. 90% of the campus including all classrooms, outdoor common areas and bus stops.

There are currently 12 open-access ITS computer labs located on campus, containing more than 470 computers.

The SuperLab, located in Jackson Library, contains approx. 120 computers and is open Sun-Thu until 3 AM.
