Starting Monday, May 12, changes to GCN VPN and certificate-based authentication will go into effect.
What’s Happening?
- The GCN VPN is being upgraded.
- Certificate-based authentication will now be required for VPN access on university-managed devices.
- This change is part of our ongoing efforts to improve security and streamline connectivity for UNCG employees.
Why it matters
This change improves security and ensures smoother access—but you may lose VPN access if you’re not set up.
What Do I need to do?
If you’re a faculty or staff member using the GCN VPN:
- Follow the instructions in the previous GCN VPN Upgrade and Certificate Authentication Update article.
- Complete the steps before May 12 to avoid service disruptions.
