Who Is Affected?
Faculty and staff using UNCG-managed Windows 11 computers.
What Is Happening?
Starting Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, ITS will deploy the Windows 11 24H2 Feature Update to all faculty and staff computers.
This update is part of ITS’s ongoing effort to keep university computers secure, patched, and up to date.
The Windows 11 24H2 release includes performance improvements, security enhancements, and new features. You can review Microsoft’s official release notes on the What’s New in Windows 11, version 24H2 webpage.
When Will This Happen?
Deployment begins Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
Once the update is available on your computer:
- You will have 2 days to complete the installation.
- A restart is required to finish the update.
- The restart process will take approximately 15 – 30 minutes.
What Do I Need to Do?
- Install the update within the 2-day window.
- Restart your computer as soon as possible after installation.
If you do not restart manually, your computer will automatically restart after the deadline. This may interrupt your work.
To avoid disruption:
- Save your work frequently.
- Restart at a convenient time before the deadline.
