Faculty and students who use Canvas Legacy ePortfolio and Folio (Portfolium).
What Is Happening?
UNCG is transitioning from the Legacy Canvas ePortfolio and Folio tools to Canvas Portfolio, a newer tool built directly into Canvas.
Canvas Portfolio provides improved features and better integration with courses, assignments, and grading tools.
When?
- Friday, May 1, 2026
Canvas Portfolio becomes available in Canvas at UNCG. - Tuesday, June 30, 2026
Legacy Canvas ePortfolio and Folio will be retired.
All data stored in these legacy tools will be permanently lost after this date.
What’s Changing?
The Legacy Canvas ePortfolio and Folio tools are being phased out and replaced by Canvas Portfolio.
Canvas Portfolio includes:
- Showcase portfolios for student-curated collections of work
- Evaluation portfolios for instructor or program assessment
- Integration with Canvas assignments and SpeedGrader
- Alignment with skills and learning outcomes
- Options to preview, share, and export portfolios

Why This Change?
This transition provides:
- A more modern and integrated portfolio experience
- Better support for teaching, learning, and assessment
- Improved workflow within Canvas
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Instructors
- Use Canvas Portfolio or Adobe Express for new portfolio assignments starting Friday, May 1, 2026
- Do not create new content in the legacy ePortfolio tool
Students
- Use Canvas Portfolio or Adobe Express for new portfolios and long-term projects
- Download and save any legacy ePortfolio content before Tuesday, June 30, 2026
