Overview
Beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026, ITS will update the Microsoft OneDrive storage quota for faculty and staff to 1 terabyte (TB).
This change is part of the University’s Data Retention Project, which is aligning storage services with long-term data management and retention practices.
Who Is Affected?
Faculty and staff who use UNCG Microsoft OneDrive.
What’s Changing?
The default OneDrive storage quota for faculty and staff will change to 1 TB.
Most users will not notice any difference and will not need to take any action. Users who currently have more than 1 TB of data in OneDrive have already been identified and will receive an exception as part of this change.
When?
Tuesday, July 28, 2026
What Do I Need to Do?
No action is required.
If you currently store more than 1 TB of data in OneDrive, your existing files will remain available. No files will be deleted as part of this change.
If you have questions about your storage allocation or believe you need additional storage for University business, contact the ITS Service Desk.
Why This Is Important?
The new storage quota supports the University’s Data Retention Project by establishing a consistent storage allocation for faculty and staff while encouraging responsible management of University data.
