Campus-wide Hardware Procurement Project
This program provides UNCG purchasers the opportunity to purchase new business-class computer equipment at attractive prices, based on volume discounts provided by the vendors. UNCG also benefits by having standardized hardware, an improved inventory collection, and an improved relation with the vendors.
UNCG Outsources Email to Google
After successfully outsourcing student email to Google Apps For Education (GAFE) in August 2008, Information Technology Services has decided to proceed with outsourcing of faculty/staff email and calendar to GAFE as well. After two years of study, ITS has decided this is the best route to meeting our service and sustainability goals, and that we can do this while protecting security and meeting UNCG's legal compliance obligations.
Active Directory Project
ITS is implementing significant changes in the campus network computing environment to provide substantially more reliable, cost-effective and secure services to campus desktop and laptop computer users. Leveraging new capabilities of the recently refreshed campus network infrastructure, ITS has designed and built a new General Computing Network (GCN) that will provide faculty and staff with significantly improved security protection, while remaining open and flexible enough to retain broad functionality that faculty and staff need to do their jobs effectively.
