Students who plan to use Student Printing during the Fall 2026 semester.
What Is Happening?
UNCG is introducing a new Student Printing service for Fall 2026. The new printers use your SpartanCard to securely release your print jobs.
Before you print for the first time this semester, make sure your SpartanCard is ready.
What You Need to Do
Look at the issue date on the front of your SpartanCard.
- Issued July 2024 or later
Your card is already ready for the new printing system. No action is needed.
- Issued between 2014 and June 2024
Visit a Card Ready Station to update your card.
- Issued before 2014
Your card may not contain the required chip. You can either visit a Card Ready Station or the SpartanCard Center to have your card evaluated. If you are eligible for a replacement card, one will be provided at no cost.- Students can get a replacement card at the start of the semester. Faculty and staff will be able to replace cards in September.
Can’t find an issue date? Visit a Card Ready Station. If your card cannot be updated, you’ll be directed to the SpartanCard Center for a replacement.
What Is a Card Ready Station?
A Card Ready Station is a self-service kiosk that updates your SpartanCard so it works with the new printing system. The update takes only a few seconds and does not affect any other card functions.
How Do I Use a Card Ready Station?
- Hold your SpartanCard against the card reader for about five seconds.
- Listen for the result:
- One beep followed by a long beep – Your card is being updated.
- A beep followed by several quick beeps – Your card is ready to use with the new printing system.
- No sound – Your card likely needs to be replaced. Visit the SpartanCard Center.
After the new printing system is available: If you tap your SpartanCard at a printer and it does not respond, visit a Card Ready Station to update your card.
